Work in government offices remained paralysed for the third day on Thursday as employees were on three-day strike called by Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) in support of their demands.

The EJCC alleged that state government has failed to implement the agreement reached between them and government.

Employees staged a dharna at several places in the city to register their anger against the government.

Hundreds of employees, who had come from different parts of the district assembled at SK park near here, raising slogans in favour of their demands.

Majority of government offices, including the headquarters of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD), Water Works (WW),Power Development Department (PDD)and animal husbandry remained shut.

However, WW control room was functioning normally. The employees are demanding increase in the retirement
age from present 58 years to 60 years, regularisation of daily wagers, contractuals, removal of pay anomalies and payment of arrears.

The strike has affected work in government offices in other parts of the Kashmir valley.
