Pedestrians can finally heave a sigh of relief as construction work on the foot over bridge (FoB) on the Expressway near Narsinghpur village, nearly 2km from Hero Honda Chowk, has commenced.
Speeding up the process, the public works department (PWD) has already constructed three FoBs on the Expressway, while the fourth one is underway near Narsinghpur. The department aims to complete five FoBs on the Expressway by the end of this year.
According to information, two FoBs are located between Shankar Chowk and Iffco Chowk, while one is between Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk. Two more will be constructed between Hero Honda Chowk and Kherki Daula.
“Work on the FoB commenced on Sunday. We will closely monitor the quality of materials being used and also ensure that construction is completed within the stipulated time,” said NK Tomar, executive engineer, PWD (B&R).
Another FoB is likely to come up between Hero Honda Chowk and Narsinghpur and tenders for the same will be awarded shortly.
“A foot over bridge will be constructed on the Expressway to provide a safe passage to pedestrians. The National Highways Authority of India will handover land for its construction,” said Tomar.
Following several representations by residents of nearby villages to Haryana chief minister, the state government had asked the PWD to speed up the process of construction.
“People crossing the stretch can now heave a sigh of relief. An underpass should also be constructed for cyclists,” said Rambir Singh, resident of Narsinghpur village.
