Prepare to shell out a cool $ 69 for this hot dog. New York’s popular Serendipity 3 restaurant has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the costliest hot dog – called the Serendipity Foot-Long Haute Dog.
So what makes this frankfurter haute? The beef is grilled in white truffle oil, placed in a salted pretzel bread bun toasted with white truffle butter and topped with duck foie gras, black truffles, caramelised Vidalia onions, heirloom tomato ketchup and a dash of Dijon mustard.
“It definitely will be the most delicious hot dog ever,” Serendipity 3 publicist Joe Calderone was quoted as saying. “And the most opulent.”
For Serendipity 3, this hot dog marks the eatery’s third Guinness World Record, after the world’s largest hot chocolate and the world’s most expensive sundae — the $1,000 Serendipity Golden Opulence Sundae.
