As the Supreme Court ripped into Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma was sent to face the bouncers from the media ahead of the Friday's World T20 match against Bangladesh. And even before the interaction began, media manager Dr RN Baba said no questions should be asked outside the World T20. Two questions on how well the team was handling the situation given the turn of events in India were sneaked in and Rohit tackled them well, much better than how he had handled the short ball in New Zealand.

But a conversation with Baba following the interaction revealed that there was no directive from the BCCI to gag players on the IPL issue. "There is no directive from the board," he said. "But I did not allow any questions on the issue as the players need to keep focus on the job at hand," said Baba who is a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association official and whose son B Aparajith has been bought by the Chennai Super Kings this time.

All quiet
Skipper MS Dhoni too had kept mum on the fixing issue during the team's pre-departure media interaction for the Champions Trophy in Mumbai last May.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court suggested that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals be banned from IPL 7. It also recommended that no employee of India Cements be part of the BCCI. There are five players from CSK — Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and Mohit Sharma —and two from Rajasthan Royals — Stuart Binny and Ajinkya Rahane — in the squad playing in the World T20.

Among them Dhoni is the CSK captain and also a vice-president in India Cements. The team's long-standing logistics manager, MA Shatish, is the other member in this squad who is employed by the India Cements. And with such loyalists around, Srinivasan has the remote control of the team in his hands.
