Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it would oppose gimmick of the National Conference and the Congress party to hoodwink the people in election year.

Addressing a series of public meetings at Bhatta, Khalka, Rajpura, Prati Mohalla, Qila Darhal, Dawatta and Lam areas in support of party candidate Yash Pal Sharma, party state secretary Surinder Choudhary said for the first time a candidate from Poonch-Rajouri area would be contesting from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat.

He said, "It now becomes responsibility of the residents of these two districts to ensure his victory."

Choudhary said, "The National Conference-Congress coalition is indulging in deceit tactics and voters should expose them."

He said for petty political gains, successive governments have tried to create division between people of different regions.

"It was only after 2002 when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed became the chief minister of the state some sincere efforts were made to bridge the gap", he said.

PDP secretary said it was during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that a comprehensive plan was formulated for development and growth of Rajouri district.
