Amid lack of basic facilities and the rising number of tyre burst cases, the Yamuna Expressway Commuters Welfare Association (YECWA) has decided to file a PIL demanding closure of the link road till these problems are resolved.

In its letter to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the association has asked why the expressway was inaugurated in a hurry even before the authorities could resolve the issues with the farmers’ and a proper completion certificate was awarded .

“We have requested the YEIDA to put up street lights, find a solution for the tyre burst problem and set up auto workshops. If such basic facilties are not provided, the authority should shut the expressway or make it toll-free. If they fail to act on these grievances, we will file a PIL,” said Ramesh Mehta, president, YECWA.
