Yashwant surrenders before local court; granted bail

india Updated: Feb 10, 2010 20:17 IST

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, who had a warrant against him in connection with a case for allegedly breaking a police barricade during a demonstration about two years ago, on Wednesday surrendered before a local court and was granted bail.

Sinha surrendered before Chief Judicial Magistrate SP Tiwari and moved a bail petition, which was granted by the court.

Besides Sinha, former MP Ajay Maroo, BJP state spokesman Sanjay Seth and party's ex-president Yedunath Pandey were booked for allegedly breaking a police barricade in May 12, 2008 during the party's demonstration against the then Madhu Koda government.

Maroo and Seth had surrendered and secured bails on November 7 last year but Pandey is still to surrender.
