Yavatmal district administration gears up for assembly polls

The district administration of Yavatmal has completed the preparations for assembly polls in all the seven constituencies, namely, Wani, Ralegaon (ST), Arni (ST), Umarkhed (SC), Pusad, Digras besides Yavatmal, the District Collector and Chief Returning Officer Sanjay Deshmukh told a press conference.

Deshmukh said 18,08,021 voters are entitled to exercise their franchise in the seven constituencies of whom 9,37,212 are male and 8,70,809 are female voters.

There is an increase of 1.4 percent in the number of voters this time compared to the Assembly election in 2004. There are 2,175 polling stations across the district besides 10 auxiliary polling stations of which 15 have been identified as sensitive.

Proposal to change the location of a few polling stations in village Pahur of Babhulgaon tehsils is pending before the Election Commission and the sanction is expected in a day or two, he added.

In all 250 video-graphers have been appointed to shoot all the events in the seven constituencies and they will be at work for 24 hours at the sensitive areas and polling stations.
