YOUTH CONGRESS activists staged a demonstration in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi today to protest the inefficiency of the administration/police in avoiding yesterday’s unruly incidents during student council elections at Madhav GACC, Ujjain, resulting in the death of two professors.
A memorandum was submitted in this regard to administrative officials. Youth Congress president Devendra Singh Yadav alleged that Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists were responsible for beating up Professor H S Sabarwal leading to his death, blackening faces of two professors and causing the death of election officer Professor Dr M L Nath, who suffered a heart attack on witnessing the unruly scene.
The incident has not only hurt the sentiments of all those who hold teachers in high esteem, but has also brought a bad name for the State.
ABVP activists talk about ‘dharma, sanskar and anushasan’ and felicitate teachers on Guru Poornima, but do not hesitate in killing these very teachers.
The incident could occur only because the police/administration fearing transfer remained mute spectators watching helplessly the events unfold in quick succession.
The organisations with saffron inclinations have recently committed several unruly acts with the abetment of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), they alleged.
A memorandum addressed to the Governor and Chief Minister was handed to SDM Vivek Shotriya and SDM Chandramauli Shukla. City Congress and other affiliate body leaders participated in the demonstration.
