CPI (M) leader and a senior Nepali Congress leader met in the Capital on Monday to discuss the political situation in Nepal hours after Maoists in Nepal announced the extension of ceasefire for another three months.

The visiting Nepali leader assured Yechury that steps would be taken soon to fulfil various aspects of the agreement reached between the government, headed by Prime Minister GP Koirala and the Maoists.

The meeting was also attended by NCP leader DP Tripathy, a member of the umbrella body of Indian political parties supporting the movement for restoration of democracy in Nepal.

Yechury heads the organisation and had played a key role in bringing the Maoists to the negotiating table with a view to bring them to the political mainstream.
