Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant on Friday thanked Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray for comparing her with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and added that that her name has always been dragged into controversies unnecessarily.
In an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna, Thackeray had called Arvind Kejriwal an "item girl" and said that the starlet can govern better that him.
"If Uddhav Thackeray thinks I would make a better politician than Kejriwal, I thank him. I feel bad that my name is used by politicians unnecessarily, I am just an actor who works hard," Sawant said.
"If Modiji can sell tea and govern the country, then why can't I do so as an item girl," she said.
She also said that she feels that Kejriwal is an item boy.
"Even an item girl Rakhi Sawant can govern better than Kejriwal. Small-time actors take to item performances after failing to get decent work. Arvind Kejriwal's item performance too will last as long as this spectacle does," wrote Thackeray.
He also called the Delhi chief minister a circus ringmaster and his Aam Aadmi Party a "fair of madmen."
Writer Chetan Bhagat, once an AAP supporter, had described Kejriwal as the "item girl of politics" in a newspaper article.
Earlier his week, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde had called Kejriwal a "yeda (mad) CM".
Several parties, including Shiv Sena's long-time ally Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Congress have criticised Kejriwal for his 33-hour protest in Delhi against the city's police.
