HOSTS YESHWANT Club and Indore Sports won their respective matches in the 20-20-cricket tournament for the YC-J S Anand Adroit Trophy played on Yeshwant Club grounds here on Thursday.
In the first match, Yeshwant Club won the toss and decided to field. Batting first, Shri Ram Sports were bundled out for a paltry 103 runs. R Pandit scored the maximum 35 runs off 28 balls with the help of six boundaries. T Juneja and N Qureshi took three and two wickets respectively.
In reply, Yeshwant Club surpassed the target at the loss of five wickets. Sandeep Thakkar’s innings of 46 runs was studded with six boundaries and a six while Naveen Paraswani made 26 off 25 balls with four boundaries to help their team to victory. R Vyas and R Randive scalped two wickets each.
In the second match, Rishi Yengde and S Khan batted brilliantly to score 69 off 36 balls (13 fours) and 64 off 39 balls (seven fours and three sixes) against MCC, Mhow. Kunal Goswami chipped in with a crisp 47 off 23 balls (six fours and two sixes) to help Indore Sports pile up 225/4 in 20 overs.
Despite their fighting spirit, MCC had to concede defeat by 55 runs. The team scored 171/8 in their allotted 20 overs. G Verma played a gritty knock of 49 off 41 balls with six hits to the fence and two sixes while M Sharma blasted a quickfire 23 off 26 balls comprising a four and six).
