You will never get my blood: Moussaoui

"You will never get my blood, God curse you all" Al-Qaeda conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui shouted, as he was led from court after a jury found him eligible for execution.

Moussaoui sat in an almost trance-like state and muttered under his breath as the unanimous verdict was read out by Judge Leonie Brinkema.

He stared straight ahead, and looked at neither the jurors nor his court-appointed lawyers, as the verdict was read out.

At the end of a hearing of only a few minutes, and breathing defiance, Moussaoui turned towards the packed press and public benches in a silenced courtroom and delivered his parting shot, as he was led away to the cells.

The jury's decision means that Moussaoui's trial, over claims his "lies" allowed the September 11 plot to go ahead in 2001, will move to a second stage, starting on Thursday, to decide whether the sentence is carried out.
