INFANTRY SCHOOL Commandant Lt Gen Satyevir Yadav today inaugurated a workshop organised by the Indian Army at the Som Hall of Infantry School Talking to media persons, Lt Gen Yadav said that the aim of the workshop was to analyse the existing system of grooming young officers of the Indian Army and to recommend changes if any in view of the changing socio-economic scenario.
He said that the brain-storming session would outline a road map to facilitate the bringing up of young officers of Indian Army so that they would be better prepared to deal with the present and future needs of our society in general and Army in particular.
Delegates from the entire cross section of Indian Army are attending this workshop. In his inaugural address, Lt Gen Yadav said that the young officers are the backbone of the Army and the changing paradigm of present/future warfare, revolution in military affairs, changing socio-economic conditions, morals and values in the country place greater responsibilities on the young officers today.
The rugged and extreme nature of his duty, both in peace and in field, calls the greater mental ability innovativeness, initiative, maturity and leadership skills, especially in counter insurgency environment where small team operations play a decisive role.
Infantry School public relations officer Lt Col M K Upadhyay said that after the opening address, the representative of each command gave their points on evaluation of the present system, impact of changing paradigms of modern warfare on the grooming of young officers, impact of societal changes in the modern world on the grooming of young officers and a methodology for implementations of the changes accruing out of discussions on major issues to groom them.
