A local court on Thursday sentenced a youth to seven years in jail for raping a minor girl two years ago.

District and Sessions Judge Sneh Prashar also imposed a fine of Rs 9,000 on the convict.

The incident dated back to December 19, 2010, when the girl was going to Rohtak from Rewari by bus to see her ailing brother, the prosecution said, adding that she was, however, lured by the accused Rajan to Gurgaon.

The prosecution had alleged that the victim, a class 8 student and a native of Zenabad village in Rewari district, was kept in confinement in Gurgaon and was repeatedly raped by the accused for two days.

She somehow managed to escape from his clutches, he said.

Subsequently on the victim's complaint, the police lodged a case of abduction and rape and arrested Rajan on December 23, 2010.
