The Orissa police have arrested an engineering student for circulating objectionable photographs of his girlfriend and also posting them online after she refused to marry him, a police official said on Friday.
Gopal Krushna Panigrahi, a second-year student of information technology in Bhubaneswar, was nabbed from Berhampur, some 100 km from here, after the girl's father lodged a police complaint against him, police officer Abhimanyu Guda said.
Panigrahi had proposed marriage to the girl, also a student at the same institute, but was turned down.
After being rejected, Panigrahi circulated the photographs the girl, taken in a cyber café with a web camera a few months ago, among his friends and also posted them on an adult website with her telephone number describing her as a call girl.
The boy, who earlier was also punished by the college authorities for a similar offence, has confessed to his crime, Guda said.
The police did not disclose the name of the institute or the name of the victim.
