Sanyogitaganj TI Sunil Birthare, while speaking to Hindustan Times, said a 14-year-old boy of Anjani Nagar was lured by one Deepak (22) into going along with him.

The accused, who lives in the same colony, was acquainted to the victim. Deepak took the boy on his bicycle at around 3.15 pm to Chouhan Nagar.

Stopping at a secluded spot with overgrown bushes, he allegedly tried sodomising the boy. When he resisted and cried out, Deepak stabbed him to death.

The boy’s cries for help, however, caught the attention of some passersby. Soon, a large crowd had gathered on the spot.
Seeing the accused in a compromising situation and with a blood-stained knife in hand, the crowd thrashed the accused. However, he was saved by the intervention of police. He suffered a slight head injury in the process.

The victim’s body has been sent for medical examination. The accused, who has been charged with murder, might get an extended prison term for sodomy, if proved.
