Yum! Taco Bell may come to India

US based $24 billion Yum! Restaurants International, owners of KFC and Pizza Hut brands, is now planning to launch the 'Taco Bell' chain of restaurants in India.

US based $24 billion Yum! Restaurants International, owners of KFC and Pizza Hut brands, is now planning to launch the 'Taco Bell' chain of restaurants in India.

"We are evaluating to bring Taco Bell brand into India. It may take about 18 months from now to rollout the brand," Yum! Restaurant's Director Business Development (Indian subcontinent) Ajay Bansal said in Kolkata on Monday.

Yum Restaurants owns five brands, All American Food, KFC, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver and Taco Bell.

Taco Bell, a Mexican fast food chain, is the third largest brand for Yum! International. It currently manages 6500 Taco Bell restaurants across the globe.

"We have a turnover of about Rs 270 crore from the existing KFC and Pizza Hut brand restaurants," Bansal said.

"There are 130 Pizza Hut and 20 KFC brands restaurants in India and by 2008 we plan to add new 60-70 KFC restaurants from both company and franchisee route," Bansal said.

He said the company would expand its footprints in 11 cities before spreading further.

Yum! International will open stores in Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Agra and Mumbai.
