Every team has bad days and Kings XI Punjab had one on Tuesday night. Our performance against Rajasthan Royals was well below the standard we have set for ourselves. But we have to learn from our failure, and make sure we improve.
We were a little flat in the field on Tuesday. I thought we lacked energy. Perhaps the hectic schedule caught up with us as we have been shuttling around the country playing games every other day. However, we have to make sure it does not affect us.
Tomorrow’s game against Chennai Super Kings gives us a chance to bounce back even though our opponents have one of the most formidable batting line-ups in this competition.
Certainly, our bowling will have to improve. I must say that the Rajasthan Royals batted really well to post a 200-plus total in Durban. Our bowlers were very disappointed afterwards but I’m confident they’ll react positively against Chennai.
Fortunately, we could derive some positives from the loss against Rajasthan. Yuvi’s innings showed that he is coming back to form. He is a key player for us, a true match-winner. Having him bat well and look dangerous going into the second half of the tournament is a big plus for Kings XI.
The other positive was the return of Sreesanth from injury. His figures were nothing special but I thought he bowled pretty well. Gameplan
