Zaheer Khan's two-wicket effort went in vain as Worcestershire lost their Pro40 Division Two match to Surrey by 13 runs at County Ground, New Road.
Electing to bat on Saturday, Surrey made a 220 for 6 in the stipulated overs.
Zaheer bowled beautifully to remove the Surrey openers cheaply giving away 50 runs off his eight overs. But, Mark Butcher hit a timely 79 to bail out Surrey.
In reply, Worcester fell short of the target narrowly despite half centuries by Ben Smith (76) and skipper Vikram Solanki (54).
