Zardari to donate $1m to shrine

Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday committed to give a sum of $1 million (Rs 5 crore) as donation to Ajmer Sharif, India's best known Sufi shrine, describing his 45-minute stay at the place as an "unspeakable moment of spiritual joy". HT reports.

Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday committed to give a sum of $1 million (Rs 5 crore) as donation to Ajmer Sharif, India's best known Sufi shrine, describing his 45-minute stay at the place as an "unspeakable moment of spiritual joy".

At the end of his visit to the the 13th century shrine, marked by tight security on Sunday evening, Zardari said he felt "a great spiritual happiness" after coming to this holy place which was "beyond description".

The $1-million donation for the welfare of the shrine was announced on behalf of Zardari by a member of his delegation, according to Anjuman Committee vice president Syed Khalimuddin Chishti.
