Zee News Producer is the winner of "Reporting HIV/AIDS - EU- India Media Awards 2006" in television Category.
Zee News producer Rajeet Ranjan Sinha is one of the winners of 'Reporting HIV/AIDS- EU-India Media Awards 2006'. The entries of the winning participants were chosen for their excellence in the reporting of HIV/AIDS issues in India and their furtherance of the best practices enumerated in the HIV/AIDS Media Manual, India.
The whole idea of conferring the awards is to acquaint and sensitise media persons with the world of people living with HIV/AIDS so that they can improve the quality of coverage on the subject.
Mr Rajeet Ranjan Sinha is the winner of this award for a story that was covered in the Programme Jaago India shown on November 8, 2006 on Zee News. He was earlier awarded British Chevening Scholarship in 2004, which enabled him to participate in the Summer International Broadcast Journalism Programme at Cardiff, UK.
He also visited IBC 2004 at Amsterdam. Earlier, he completed his master's degree in Mass Communication from Pune University in 1996.
The EU-INDIA-MEDIA-AWARDS has been instituted under the EU-India Media Initiative on HIV/ AIDS, a project implemented by The Thomson Foundation with the financial assistance of the European Union.
The Commonwealth Broadcast Association has felicitated six journalists under this scheme.
Two awardees each from television, radio and print respectively were selected, thereby rewarding the representatives of the most widespread communication chains.
The awardees will get the opportunity to travel to UK for a study tour in December 2006 in the field of HIV/AIDS and thus, through personal interactions and convergence of knowledge, further their professional awareness about HIV/AIDS.
