A minor in Bhind refused to marry her middle-aged prospective groom on May 21 because of the vast age difference between them.

While the bride’s age was 17 years, the groom was 38 years old.

According to police, Amar Singh Jatav, a resident of Raun fixed his daughter’s marriage with Rajveer Jatav, a resident of Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.

Reportedly, when the bride and the groom were called on stage to perform the rituals, the girl saw that the groom was older than she was told.

Immediately, she announced that she would not tie the knot and left the stage.

Failing to convince the bride’s family to proceed with the rituals, the dejected bridegroom’s party had to return empty-handed.

The bride’s father later said his neighbour Rameshwar Jatav had given him wrong information about the groom’s age to be 25 years.

Singh also alleged that Rajveer had already married once in 2006 but left his first wife later.

Because of this no one was ready to give their daughter’s hand to Rajveer.

Sources also said that Rajveer belongs to a well-to-do family, while Singh is a labourer and greedy because of which he agreed to marry his daughter to a middle-aged man.

Sources said that Amar Singh was given money for this marriage but the situation went out of control when his daughter refused to marry Rajveer.
