Sitting BJP MLA from Dewas Tukoji Rao Puar is brain dead and he has been put on life support system at the Apollo Hospital in Indore.

The MLA who has served as minister in several department was the ruler of the erstwhile Dewas state, situated 30 km from Indore.

“The MLA was admitted in a critical condition on Monday. He is on life support system since then. He is brain dead and his recovery chances are minimal,” said Dr Prashant Nimadkar, neurosurgeon of Apollo hospital.

Meanwhile, Puar's son Vikram Singh filed an affidavit before a local court in Dewas seeking anticipatory bail on Tuesday.

In the application too he mentioned that his father was brain dead and sought bail on that ground. The court granted Vikram Singh bail for 15 days.

The junior Puar has been on the run for the past two and half month ever since he was accused in a murder case.

“We have sought a bail from a special court of Dewas and stated that since the condition of MLA is critical hence he should be granted bail. Court has granted us anticipatory bail for 15 days,” said Vikram Singh Puar's advocate Ashok Verma while talking to Hindustan Times.

As the news of Puar's health condition spread a large number of his supporters from Dewas thronged the hospital.

Among others the Dewas Mayor Subhash Sharma was also there. It could not be ascertained whether the junior Puar was inside the hospital or not.

There were rumours that the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is in Delhi, might land in Indore late in the night, though no party official or administrative official was willing to confirm it.
