Boy among two killed in mishap in Khargone

Two persons, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed and a dozen others injured when a speeding truck dashed against a Tempo Trax near Nimgul village under Mengaon police station on the Indore-Khargone highway late on Sunday night.

Six of the injured are in serious condition and have been referred to Indore.

The Tempo Trax was filled with members of a marriage party who were returning from Lohari village to Bisthan, when the tragedy took place.

The truck was coming from Indore and the Tempo Trax was coming from the opposite direction resulting in head-on collision.

Soon after the accident, the Mengoan police, SDOP Khargone R B Dixit reached the area. The 108 ambulance was also pressed into service and they took the injured to the district hospital.

The driver of the Tempo Trax was trapped inside the vehicle and the police had a tough time bringing him out of the vehicle. After the accident, the truck driver fled from the accident spot, but the police have registered case against the truck driver.

At the district hospital, where the injured were admitted, the doctors on duty and even some of the passengers tried calling the civil surgeon Dr Ramesh Neema, but he did not come to the hospital.
