Top administration and IMC officials, including collector Akash Tripathi were present during the drive. The officials with the help of a police team and around half-a-dozen JCBs, hammers, crowbars and explosives started conducting the drive since morning.

The traffic was diverted from those places where the IMC officials carried out the demolition. The first farm house that was demolished was owned by Vijay Mirchiwale. Explosive experts brought the farm house down by planting dynamites on its pillars and columns, officials said. The other farms houses that were demolished were owned by Vipin Nema, Om Prakash Sharma, Madanlal Sharma, Dinesh Dang, Gopal Sharda, Mrs Soni and Anil Chaganlal.

SDM Sandeep Soni said according to the master plan survey, plots bearing no 63, 64, 65 and 66 of Tejpur Garbari were earmarked as green belt where some illegal constructions came up and the administration received complaints about it. So, after an inquiry into the complaints, the constructions were found illegal. Out of 24 farm houses that came there, 14 were big. However, while action could be taken against eight as there is a stay in six cases other constructions do not cover much area.
