In a body blow to party’s reputation, district Congress leader Shailesh Choube has made a video clip of himself, urging Congress president Sonia Gandhi to oust her son and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi from the party to save face.

In the 1 minute 26 seconds long video, Choube addressed Sonia Gandhi, saying Rahul’s comment has put Congress in a bad light and has proved the BJP’s claims that Rahul is not able enough for his post. He demanded that Sonia remove Rahul from the post of party vice-president.

The video clip circulated on social messaging platform WhatsApp soon went viral.

The district Congress secretary was seen criticising Rahul Gandhi for his ‘Khoon ki Dalali’ statement during his Deori to Delhi Kisan Yatra on October 6.

The Gandhi scion faced backlash in social media after he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other politicians are taking advantage of sacrifices made by Indian soldiers martyred in terror strikes.

Choube went on to say that Sonia may assign Rahul to look after a business or else Rahul would debase the party on each and every step. When asked that he may face consequences for his move, Choube said, “I have no ambition of grabbing plump posts and am a simple party worker. Sonia Gandhi is an honourable, transparent leader but Rahul Gandhi has demolished NSUI and has no leadership potential. Congress still has better leaders to uplift the party and fight the BJP.”

Leader of Opposition in MP Assembly Bala Bachchan, however, said the video might be doctored and should be examined.
