The prize distribution ceremony of Inter-university state youth festival, held at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore on Friday triggered an embarrassing situation when participants from Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University objected to the outcome and created a ruckus.
The erring participants climbed the stage and shouted objectionable slogans against the winner of the one act-play contest, said DAVV media in-charge Prof Chandan Gupta.
The team from Vikram University, Ujjain bagged the first prize while teams from Awadhesh Pratap Singh Vishwavidyalaya, Rewa and DAVV claimed second and third prizes respectively.
Samson David, joint secretary of Association of India University, New Delhi and BJP MLA Mahendra Hardiya were present during the prize distribution ceremony as special guest and chief guest respectively. DAVV is mulling over taking action against the objectionable behaviour by students of Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University.
Gupta said the team from the Gwalior varsity performed a play on “Oedipus” and was judged by actors Sushil Johari, Shriram Jog and Neeraj Kunder.
DAVV vice-chancellor Narendra Dhakkad said he would inform his counterpart at Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University and submit a video of the incident. “Such indecent behaviour of any participant is unacceptable. We could not take it lightly anymore,” Dhakkad said.
