Former member of parliament Sajjan Singh Verma visited Raghogarh village on Thursday, where son of BJP MLA Tukoji Rao Puar from Dewas, allegedly shot at a farmer Pratap Lodhi at Raghogarh village last week.

Verma expressed his condolence to the deceased farmer’s family and said the police was doing its job and law would take its own course. Earlier, former MLA Rajendra Singh Baghel had also visited the village.

Meanwhile, IG Ujjain V Madhukumar visited the district and reviewed the whole case. According to the sources, he held a meeting of the officers investigating the case.

The police claimed they were conducting raids to arrest the main accused who is still absconding. However, police are keeping a close eye on the followers and relatives of Puar.

Police said they have formed three teams to investigate the case. “All the teams are working in the case and something positive will come out of it,” said SP Dewas Abhay Singh.

Last Wednesday, armed men allegedly led by ruling BJP MLA and former state minister Tukoji Rao Puar’s son Vikram Singh Rao Puar allegedly attacked a group of farmers injuring at least four people in Raghogarh village of Dewas district over a land dispute.

The injured were identified as Pratap Lodhi, Ajay Lodhi, Ramesh Lodhi and Avantika Bai. Later, the police lodged a cross-complaint against the farmers, who were targeted by the Vikram and his associates.
