Two books one life. Dr Vinod Gujral, a leading diabetic and cardio expert, launched two books authored by him. The books have been published by an Indore-based publishing house Glittering Ink.
While one of them, Chini Kum, is a Hindi hand book on self-management of diabetes, the other one The Di(e)lemma is an English novel (fiction). Apart from taking interesting quotes, Chini Kum also brings into focus some hard hitting reality.
Dr Gujral said, "By 2030, India would be home to 79.4 million people suffering from diabetes. While this statistic is a matter of concern for the simple reason that more people will be living with diabetes, it also has huge implications for the levels of care, services and support that will need to be provided in order for those people to live with and manage their diabetes."
Adding that 95% of diabetes management can be done through self-management, Dr Gujral said, "Through self-management, people with diabetes can improve their quality of life and reduce risk of complications." This is the sixth book written by Dr Gujral; some other books written by him are Jeevan Madhumeh Ke Sang, Hope for Diabetics in 21st Century and Are You Good at Heart.
About his second book which is a fiction, Dr Gujral said, "I had always wanted to write stories and fiction about intricate human relations. The plot crystallised and I got going. I thoroughly enjoyed writing the novel and completed in about nine months."
