The situation in Indore’s Moosakhedi remained tense on Friday after the murder of a farmer Mahesh Patel (32) by five people over a petty dispute on Thursday night.
The residents and the people from the deceased farmer’s community on Friday morning pelted stones on the shops which were open and also staged a chhakkajam protesting the death.
TI Azad Nagar KL Dangi said that the situation is under control. Additional police force has been deployed in the area and investigations are on.
Three people, who were injured in the attack, are admitted to MY hospital and their condition is said to be serious.
“Police have arrested five people and booked them under relevant sections of IPC,” said TI Dangi while taking to Hindustan Times.
The incident took place on Thursday night, when Rajneesh Patel on his tractor was going somewhere. His tractor hit the tin shed of Srinath sweet shop.
The owner of shop Harsh, Murli and his servants and others entered into a brawl with Patel.
Subsequently, Patel called his friend Mahesh, a resident of Khaati Mohalla, along with two others for help and tried to pacify the dispute.
When they were trying to pacify the dispute, the brawl took place again and the owner of the shop, Harsh, along with his accomplices, attacked Mahesh and his friends with rods and swords. Police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
Mahesh and his friend Rajneesh along with his other two friends (Maruti and Gokul) sustained injures and were rushed to MY hospital where Mahesh died during treatment.
After the news of his death spread in the area, the residents came on street on Friday morning and started pelting stones on sweet shop. TI KL Dangi and other senior officials used mild force to contain the situation.
The residents of the area demanded removal of encroachment from the area as it was reasons behind several brawls on the road.
Taking action on the demand, the administration along with the police removed all the encroachments .
