With eyes glued to his mobile phone, Sameer Soni, an engineering student, comes to ‘Paal chat corner’ daily to use the free Wi-Fi service available in the place.

The chat corner in AB Road near Shoppers Stop is one of the five different spots in the city where free Wi-Fi services are made available by a mobile network company.

With the option for free and unlimited usage, a number of youngsters can be seen flocking to these spots religiously. If some sit on their bikes surfing the net on their phones, others bring their laptops to use the free internet.

Sarita Tiwari, a sales professional who works in a nearby mall says that small ‘surfing-breaks’ between work helps him to unwind.

“At times its just Facebooking, while on other occasions I watch some videos as well,” she says.

Surrounding these shops is a beeline of eateries that have shifted to this spot because of the huge crowd coming here every day.

“My shop was opposite the street where a coaching institute was running, but of late these Wi-Fi spots have come out as better hubs for business,” said Ramesh Singh, a vendor who sells tea and snacks at the spot.

While many youngsters are choosing the place as it is cheap, others come as the place is full of activity.

“This spot was set up around a month back, since then I come here for tea and free Wi-Fi service as well. It helps kill boredom on weekends and moreover is cheap,” said Ravi Saxena, a student who lives in a nearby hostel.
