Indore mayor Malini Gaud on Monday declared Bilawali as a “model zone” after carrying out inspection of records and execution of public works being carried out in the zone.
Gaud said, “Bilawali zonal office has performed well in execution of public works. There has not been a single complaint from people or public representatives.”
The mayor stressed upon increasing revenue collection by carrying out regular inspection of properties in the respective zones.
She also instructed officials to check for illegal water connections, where the corporation is losing a major chunk of revenue.
The civic body is only able to collect 45% of revenue from total water distribution; the rest is lost in non-payments and leakages.
The corporation is in the process of overhauling its entire water distribution network to minimise illegal connections and distribution losses and reduce it to 20%.
Besides, the mayor asked officials to issue spot penalties on citizens littering garbage on the city-streets.
Gaud also asked city residents to use Indore-311 mobile app to raise complaints about civic amenities.
The mayor also carried out inspection of the stadium zone and suspended a civic body sub-engineer after receiving complaints against him from corporators.
