More than 50 players including Manan Chandra, Shabad Khan, Rahul Sachdeva and Abhimanyu Gandhi, will be seen in action at the Indian Open World Snooker Qualifying Championship to be held at Indore's Nehru Stadium's billiards and snooker hall from September 3 to 7.
Madhya Pradesh Billiards and Snooker Association president Bholu Mehta said Indore is hosting the third qualifying championship after Delhi and Chennai hosted the first and second qualifying round. The fourth and final qualifying championship will be held in Mumbai followed by India Open World Snooker Championship from September 13 to 17.
Mehta further said the qualifying championship is being organised to select four qualifiers from each camp. Top 16 qualifiers will then fight it out with eight top players in the country. The final six players emerging out of this will be given wild card entries from India for the Indian Open.
Talking about the qualifying championship to be played for the first time in Indore, Mehta said the best of seven frames will be played during the qualifying championship and those who failed to qualify in Delhi and Chennai can participate in Indore to ensure their place in the main round.
