Eve teasers had a bad time in Indore on Wednesday as angry locals soundly thrashed two lumpen youth in separate cases before handing the duo to police.

Nurses from Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital along with few locals bashed Dinesh Puniya, a resident of Banswada, after tolerating his nuisance for quite some time.

A senior nurse said the eve teaser had taken house on rent in the area about three months ago. At the beginning, he used to stare at female nurses passing in the area. Initially, the nurses ignored him. But on Wednesday morning, Puniya teased one of the female nurse and made indecent remark, she said.

Angry nurses caught hold of Puniya and beat him. Locals joined the nurses and beat up the eve teaser before handing him over to cops at the Sanyogitaganj police station. However, no formal complaint has been lodged against Puniya.

“The first floor of MY Hospital is more vulnerable to such incidents. All the female wards are present on first floor and most of the doctors, nurses and attenders are females. The hospital administration needs to increase security guards on first floor and nearby areas to avoid such incidents in future,” a senior nurse said.

Another eve teaser caught in Harsidhi area

At Harsidhi area under the Pandharinath police station limits, locals caught an eve teaser when a woman raised alarm. Police said the woman, in her complaint, claimed that Iqbal, a resident of Juna Risala, has been stalking and teasing her for three-four days.

On Wednesday while returning from the Harsidhi temple, Iqbal stood on the woman’s way and caught hold of her hand. The eve-teaser allegedly abused and threatened her for raising an alarm. But the locals caught Iqbal and beat him up at the spot. Police have registered a case against Iqbal under relevant sections of IPC.
