An astrologer’s family from Indore on way to Wardha (Maharashtra) to attend the convocation ceremony of gold medallist daughter pursuing bachelor of dental surgery (BDS) course was charred to death in a road accident in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
According to relatives of the family, the four members of the family from Indore’s Kalindi Kunj-Pipliyahana locality, who were charred beyond recognition, included Bhagwati Prasad Sharma (45), wife Sunita (42) and two daughter Anchal (23) and Palak (20).

The family was on way to attend the convocation ceremony at a medical college in Wardha slated on Friday, where Anchal was to receive a gold medal for topping the BDS examination, family sources in Indore confirmed. The other daughter of the Sharma couple, Palak who also died in the accident was pursuing a BA (Psychology) from Sophia College in Mumbai.
The accident happened at Ambara Crossing bypass, two km from Chhindwara’s Pandurana police station at around 4.30 pm.
Collision triggered explosion in truck’s fuel tank, car turned into a fireball
The car bearing the registration number MP09CL3477 rammed into the truck, while the truck was crossing the road. The collision was so powerful that it triggered the explosion in the fuel tank of the truck, due to which the car and truck both caught fire.
While the car turned into a fireball, the truck too was partially burnt. All four occupants of the car were charred to death beyond imagination, but the truck driver who also sustained burns fled from the spot, Pandurana police station in-charge KK Trivedi told Hindustan Times over phone.
While the Pandurana police were yet to establish the identity of the four deceased, relatives of the Sharma family who have rushed to Chhindwara confirmed that entire family of four including astrologer Bhagwati Prasad Sharma was in the car.
