Two unidentified bikers shot at Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Zafar Khan while he was campaigning for ward number 2 at Chanduwala Road under Chandan Nagar police station area on Tuesday evening. The incident took place around 7.30 pm.

Senior BJP leaders, including Sudarshan Gupta and Malini Gaur, admitted Khan to MY Hospital as he complained of high blood pressure. Khan is now out of danger, said a hospital official.

City superintendent of police (CSP) Annapurna AH Ghuraiya said Khan and two others were canvassing in the Chandan nagar area when two unidentified bikers opened fire on Khan.

“No one was injured but since Khan was suffering from high blood pressure he was admitted to MY hospital,” said Ghuraiya.

The CSP further said a case has been registered and a hunt has been launched to arrest the suspects. He further said the police have been trying to retrieve the CCTV footage of the shop near the campaign site to identify the suspects.

Meanwhile, Khan supporters gathered in front of Chandan Nagar police station and demanded the immediate arrest of the suspects.
