Three people have been arrested in Indore’s sensational Kartik Mishra murder case on Friday.
The 13-year-old boy was kidnapped on Tuesday night and his body found in the Narmada river near Mandleshwar on Thursday.
The accused have confessed that the Class 8 student was killed by the rivals of his businessman father, police said. Subhash Patidar, who owns a medical shop located opposite to the medical shop of Kartik’s father, Ashok Mishra, had given Rs 2 lakh contract to Nanuram Chaudhary and Kanhaiyalal Jat, both residents of Kshipra area, to murder the boy, they said. All the three have been arrested.
“Their plan was to kill the boy and not to kidnap him for ransom. After picking up the boy, Chaudhary and Jat first called Kartik’s father for Rs 5 lakh ransom and within the next 10 minutes they killed him,” said ASP, crime branch, Vinay Chandra Paul.
Paul said Ashok Mishra and Patidar had a brawl sometimes back and both had lodged counter cases against each other at the Kshpira police station, located on the outskirts of the city.
Patidar had first approached Jat and offered the contract and later Chaudhary had joined forces, police said. Patidar had promised that the ransom money, besides the Rs 5 lakh contract sum, would be distributed between Jat and Chaudhary. He had also assured to fight their case if they got caught, police said.
