Apart from the convocation, EC members also approved various proposals in the meeting held at Kasturba Gram College instead of the varsity campus on Nalanda premises in Indore. Few colleges objected to the university’s decision to offer gold medals to toppers of 2012-13 and 2013-14 batches to students of School of Law.

They stated that schemes of exams for colleges and School of Law are different. So, there should be separate medals for college students and their School of Law counterparts. On this, DAVV has decided to award gold medals to all toppers at the convocation.

EC members also gave consent for establishment of Gandhi Research Chair at the university after environmentalist TGK Kutti Menon tabled the proposal. EC members appointed an eight-member panel for the same, which will be headed by DAVV vice chancellor Narendra Kumar Dhakkad.

During the meeting, all members unanimously approved the proposal to invite Nobel prize awardee Kailash Sathyarthi during the forthcoming 10th South Asian Universities Youth Festival, which is going to be held between February 28 and March 4 at DAVV.

The EC members reconstituted the committee responsible to deal with cases of malpractice in examinations.
