After making their presence felt in the world of entertainment, Indoreans are now making news down South. Poonam Vohra, a designer from the city, showcased her collection at Style Week Bangalore recently.
She has been the host designer at the previous two Indore Fashion Weeks. This time, she decided to charm the audience at the Bangalore event.
Poonam's collection was titled 'Utsav', which according to the designer, was named keeping the upcoming festival season in mind.
"Utsav relieves stress and drives us in a carefree festive mood. I have worked a lot on subtle and monochrome colours with a focus on beige and gold. Vibrant colours have remained in demand and with the festive season around, I thought of fusing these vibrant shades with the traditional gold and beige. A lot of aqua, olives, fuchsia, and colours which give you a high were used in the garments," said Poonam.
She also added some shades of Rajasthan to her collection by inducing gota and patti work with contemporary cuts and stiches.
"The second half of the year remains colourful with festivals and occasions up to the New Year. That prompted me to come up with this collection which would include outfits to be worn in the festive season. It was a big high to get orders of my designs soon after we finished the show," Poonam said.
The garments included tunics, lungis, anarkalis, jackets and kurtis.
Other designers at the Style Week Bangalore included Agnimitra Paul, Jattinn Kochhar, Mona Pali, designer duo Sarwari Anam and Pooja Raju, Manoviraj Khosla while celebrity designer Rocky S was the grand finale designer.
Poonam has previously been a part of Hyderabad Fashion Week where her designs were worn by Diandra Soares, among other noted models.
