Indore: Disproportionate assets worth crores recovered from sub-engineer

Disproportionate property worth crores was unearthed in a Lokayukta raid at the house of a sub-engineer posted in Public Works Department in Indore on Tuesday. Raids were going on till late evening at various places of the city where the engineer invested as per Lokayukta officials.

As per DSP Lokayukta DS Parihar, the sub-engineer Rajendra Sharma is posted with Project Inspection Unit of PWD in Indore and Is in service since 2008. He was with PWD since 1989 but on daily wages, said the DSP.

As per the DSP, the immovable properties which were unearthed include flats at Chhabara Apartments, three shops in Navneet Plaza, a house at Sri Nagar Extension and a hall at Shiv Vilaas Palace.

“We are investigating that Sharma along with Global Construction Company, Sakar Infrastructure and Sakar Developer has invested in real estate in the city. We raiding various spots to know more about Sharma’s investments,” said the DSP.

The inventories which were found in his house are worth Rs 23.55 lakh, the DSP told HT.

As per Lokayukta , 225 gold jewelries worth Rs 5.89 lakh and 2.5 kg of silver was found along with Rs 80,000 in cash from the house.

“The search is still going on and we have yet to estimate the exact worth of Sharma’s assets,” said SP lokayukta Arun Mishra.
