Indore’s Mahak Jain won her first ITF junior under-18 grade 4 tennis tournament on Saturday. In the final clash at the SATS Tennis Complex LB Stadium, Hyderabad, the city girl maintained her dominance throughout the match as she won the game in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 against Akansha Bhaan.
With her latest victory, Mahak has earned 40 ITF points, which will further improve her world ranking. In the boys category, the finals played between Rian Pandole and Sanil Jagtiani, Pandole won 6-1, 6-2.
Earlier in the semi-final clash, Mahak outclassed the tournament’s top seed Sama Sathwika in a neck-and-neck battle. After trailing 0-1 in the match, Mahak made brilliant comeback and scored 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 to pave her way to the final.
Within a span of 15 days, this is the second title for Mahak. Earlier, on August 15, she won the HSBC Road to Wimbledon 2015 for girls under-14 after defeating Hampshire’s Esther Adeshina 6-4, 6-3.
With the win, Mahak have got a wild-card entry into the 2016 under-18 category Wimbledon.
