Indore: I-T searches end, Bollywood link in focus

The income tax department’s search at MP Agro Industries, MP Agro Nutri Foods, MP Agrotonics, Shri Krishna Devcon Ltd (SKDL), Global Group and their allied companies concluded on the fourth day on Friday.

The income tax department’s search at MP Agro Industries, MP Agro Nutri Foods, MP Agrotonics, Shri Krishna Devcon Ltd (SKDL), Global Group and their allied companies concluded on the fourth day on Friday.

After going through the confiscated documents, the department asked directors/owners of the companies to surrender Rs 100 crore as unaccounted income, which they reported to have declined.

Meanwhile, department continued recording statements of companies’ directors, representatives on suspected tax evasion. Besides tracing hawala and money laundering trail in financial transactions, the I-T officers have screened social media posts and photographs of Global Group head Avadhesh Dixit and his journalist-brother Hradayesh Dixit with Bollywood actors, politicians and fashion designers.

In March, the Dixits had hosted a grand party reportedly attended by celebrities including actors Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Shilpa Shetty, ex-cricketer Ajay Jadeja, Congress leader Rajiv Shukla at their palatial farmhouse.

“Attempts are on to ascertain whether the Dixits invested in Bollywood industry and to what extent,” an I-T officer said.

Hradayesh has already denied any wrong on his family’s part.

Sunil and Mukesh Jain are directors in MP Agro Nutri Foods. Real estate firms SKDL has Manish Bansal and his family members as its directors.
