A grand welcome awaits Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he lands in Indore on Thursday to attend the inaugural session of Global Investors Summit 2014. There has been surge in the registrations for the event after Modi gave his consent to attend the summit.

"More than 4,500 delegates have registered for the summit," divisional commissioner Sanjay Dubey told HT on Sunday. "The main hall has a capacity of about 2,500, but we have reserved four halls for the remaining guests who can watch the proceedings live on big television screens," he said.

Hundreds of BJP workers will assemble at the old terminal building of the airport to greet Prime Minister on his arrival. The BJP is preparing a stage at the old terminal building, from where the Prime Minister is likely to address the workers before proceeding for the venue.

Earlier in the day, principal secretary (commerce and industry) Mohammed Suleman chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations for the summit. The officials also discussed the security arrangements with members of special protection group (SPG), who arrived in the city on Sunday evening. More than 4,500 police personnel and additional security forces will be deployed for the Prime Minsiter’s security.

The government has planned 36 presentations with focus on different sectors. The presentations will also highlight policies of the government in different sectors such as IT, textile, tourism and food processing.

The presentations will be followed by question and answer sessions.

Besides, seven countries will also make presentation and talk about the investment potential in their countries.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate an industrial exhibition adjacent to the convention centre on Tuesday evening.
