Work for building the world-class auto testing track in Pithampur will start soon and the tracks will be ready by 2016. One high speed and 13 small and medium auto testing tracks and auto testing labs will be built on 4,140 acres of land under National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP).
According to NATRIP director (infrastructure) Pradeep Agrawal, the high-speed auto testing track will be a world-class automotive proving ground where companies will be able to comprehensively test the automobiles at extremely high speed.
The facility will have all types of surface type to test vehicles against varying terrains and stringency. The core of the facility is the oval 4-lane high speed track of 13.6 km designed for a neutral speed of 250 kmph on curves.
The large part of test load on this facility is related to evaluation of automotive performance such as max speed, acceleration, break, efficiency, noise, vibration, handling and stability among other things. The project will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
