The characters from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book stories that captured our imagination as children, were brought to life once again on Sunday by the Rajkumar Mills’ tableau.
The brightly-lit montage was adjudged the best among the 13 tableaux rolled out by the ‘sick’ mills on Anant Chaturdashi. The results for the competition were announced on Monday.
The tableau of the Malwa Mills’ depicting a scene where Lord Krishna plays holi with Radha won the second prize, while Hope Textile Mills’ montage on the descent of Ganga to earth after the river goddess was releases from Lord Shiva’s hair was a close third.
The tableaux of Kalyan Mills (on Shiva-Parvati wedding) and Hukumchand Mills (on Nageshwar Rudra) too received prizes.
Shri Chandrapal Ustad Vyayamshala and Ramnath Guru Balika Shastra Vyayamshala were given first and second prize respectively among ‘akhadas’.
In individual (boys) category Abhishek Yadav of Guru Mohan Singh Ustad Vyayamshala and Laxmi Vaidya of Chhotu Guru Vyayamshala (girls’ category) were adjudged the best.
