Christians across Indore offered special prayers in churches, exchanged greetings and held family get-togethers on the occasion of Christmas on Friday.

The main congregation was at Red Church, the main church for the Roman Catholics, and at While Church of the Protestants. There was also a sizeable attendance at the Masih Mandir, the church of the Presbyterians.

At the church at Nanda Nagar, a tableux on the life of Christ has been made.

The festival of goodwill and greeting, which will end with the feast of Epiphany in January, began with midnight mass held at city churches that were lit with candles for the Christmas eve service.

Caroling processions were taken out to mark the occasion. Holy mass, carols and prayers were also held on Christmas morning too.

Shops and Christian households wore a festive look with Holy table arrangement, candy wreath with fairy treetops.

Food and feasting was abundant. Cakes, puddings, pastries, fresh and dry fruits and chocolates made the celebrations complete.

City streets and markets went gay with festival wares as people dressed as Santa Claus shook hands with the young and old.

Two fairs, one at the Red Church and another at the White Church, were crowded with a large number of Christians as well as members from other religions.

The familiar X-mas trees decorated with stars and tinsels, toys, plastic fruits and colorful streamers found place in front of houses, shops and restaurants.
