The Indore zoo got a male white tiger from Bhilai on Sunday in return for, among other things, a pair of white peacocks, beating the Central Zoo authority’s November 30 deadline for the animal exchange by a whisker.

"The tiger is a two-year-old male. We will observe its temperament for a few days before attempting to mate it with one of the white tigresses," said IMC health officer and zoo in-charge Dr Uttam Yadav.

The CZA gave Indore zoo the nod for acquiring a white tiger from Bhilai in return for a pair of white peacocks, parrots, tortoise and a jackal. The CZA’s nod for the exchange would have lapsed after six months, on Sunday.
