Five days after starting probe into the murder of bullion trader Rajendra Kataria’s wife Rajkumari Kataria, Indore police on Sunday cleared names of her family members from the list of suspects.
After failing to gather informaton by interrogating family members including Rajendra, police are now searching for people who came in contact with the family and are absconding post murder.
“Till now, no one from her close relatives or the family seems to be behind the killing. Some people who came in contact with the family are missing. We have sent a team to other districts to find them,” said a police officer investigating the case.
Meanwhile, police have recovered a purse from the crime spot and are suspecting that the criminal might be a woman.
Kataria was brutally murdered inside her house by unknown people at the upscale Baikunthdham colony under Palasia police station area on Tuesday afternoon. Forensic report of the fingerprints found on switchboards and other parts of the room is yet to come.
Police sources said the victim was hit by a weapon resembling a screwdriver on her face and other parts of her body for over 12 times, reflecting old rivalry.
“We are making a list of people who came in contact with the Kataria family in the last few months and tracing them. The accused must have been known to the family and have visited the house at least once,” said an investigating officer.
A team of Indore police is camping in Ratlam and scanning background of the Kataria family, which shifted to Indore from Ratlam about a decade ago.
