Man dies in Indore after being struck by lightning

A 49-year-old man died after lightning struck him in Indore on Wednesday. Indore experienced a nippy Wednesday after various parts of the city received scattered winter showers.

The incident occurred at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) ground under Heera Nagar police station limit around 8am.

The deceased was identified as Sanjeev, a resident of Karajdev Nagar. He was on a routine morning walk when ligtning struck him.

The deceased's younger brother Ritesh Yadav said Sanjeev was into construction business. He went for morning walk around 6.30am. Around 8am, when it started pouring, Sanjeev and others who were out for morning walk, immediately ran for shelter. However, lightning struck him.

Many people who were present at the spot witnessed the incident. People rushed him to MY Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, Yadav added.

"Burn marks on head, chest, abdominal region and thighs were noticed on the deceased's body that confirms lighting strike," Ritesh Yadav said.

When contacted, Heera Nagar police said a case has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC.
